This page providing information individual involved in all aspect of Primatology (research, education, veterinary medicine, and conservation), especially in South East Asia or ASEAN Member Countries.


Any person engaged in the pursuit of scientific knowledge and the conservation of primates in the AMCs, or interested in supporting the goals of the SEAPA may apply for membership in the SEAPA. There are three categories of memberships:

  • Full Membership – Any individual who possesses a recognized qualification in a related scientific field, or has made a significant contribution to Primatology, or has a demonstrated serious interest in primates. All full members are eligible to vote, but only full members who are AMC nationals are eligible to hold office. Post-graduates may apply for a full membership, but are required to pay the full membership dues @ USD20/member.
  • Student Membership – open to all undergraduates and post-graduates that are interested in Primatology. Student members can participate in all activities of the SEAPA, and are required to pay the student membership dues equivalent to half of the full membership dues @ USD20/member. However, student members are not eligible to hold office and to vote.
  • Institutional Membership – open to any institutions, agencies, and corporations. All institutional members are eligible to three votes. Institutional members can participate in all activities of the SEAPA, and are required to pay the institutional membership dues equivalent to five times the full membership dues @ USD100/member.

Membership applicants may make one or more complimentary full or student membership payment to SEAPA for AMC national(s) who is/are financially unable to pay the dues. AMC nationals who cannot pay the full or student membership dues may request for sponsorship through SEAPA. All requests will be reviewed by the office-bearers, and eligible individuals will be admitted to the SEAPA, as sponsorship funds become available. Announcement:

"Members who paid their membership dues for the 2005-2006 will enjoy an extended membership until June 30, 2007 - as decided by the SEAPA officers".

"(after consensus by SEAPA officers) All individual members of SEAPA who are members of the IUCN/SSC Primate Specialist Group and all institutional members of SEAPA will receive gratis copies of Asian Primates - the journal and newsletter of the Asian section of the IUCN/SSC Primate Specialist Group."
